Professional Summary

Hi! My name is Štěpán Jabůrek. I am a PhD student at the Institute of Political Studies at Charles University in Prague and a researcher within Horizon ENSURED.

My research focuses on the intersection of international cooperation and domestic politics, particularly:

  • How domestic political incentives (such as electoral competition and government-opposition dynamics) affect the prospects of international cooperation.
  • How information assymetries and the linguistic complexity of political information affect voter knowledge about international politics.

With my co-authors I also work on a series of papers that research the effects of authoritarian legacies on ideological debates and how political elites across Europe view ideology.

Methodologically, I specialize in quantitative and computational political science, especially Natural Language Processing (NLP) and statistical modelling (slowly turning bayesian).
